About
Independent reviews, transparent methodology.
SpykeVision is an independent, reader-supported home-theater publication. I review projectors the way I'd want them reviewed: with real measurements, full transparency about test conditions, and no marketing spin. If a number looks too good, I tell you why, and how I got it.
How I measure
Every review is built on a consistent bench process so results are comparable across products:
- Brightness: measured in calibrated picture modes (not the brightest factory preset), across the full zoom and aperture range, after thermal stabilization.
- Native contrast: full-field on/off, per zoom and aperture position.
- ANSI contrast: 4×4 checkerboard, measured at both centered and shifted lens positions.
- ADL contrast: across content levels from on/off through 50% APL.
- Optics: sharpness patterns, distortion via laser level, uniformity maps, and lens-shift behavior.
Transparency first: if you want to reproduce a measurement, the test pattern, meter and conditions are documented alongside each chart. Spotted something off? Get in touch; corrections are published openly.
